11 Injured in Mass Stabbing at Michigan Walmart; Suspect in Custody

A stabbing incident at a Walmart near Traverse City, Michigan, left at least 11 people injured on Saturday afternoon, according to Michigan State Police. Authorities have confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody.

All the injured victims are currently receiving treatment at Munson Medical Centre in Traverse City. Megan Brown, Chief Communications Officer for Munson Healthcare, said the hospital was still assessing the severity of the injuries, though no specific details were released.

“The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a multiple stabbing incident at the Walmart in Traverse City. The suspect is in custody, details are limited at this time,” read a post from the department’s sixth district on X.

Local emergency services responded swiftly, and Grand Traverse 911 assured residents there is “no ongoing threat” to the public. Authorities have urged people to avoid the area around the Walmart as investigations continue.
